Reflection Blog 14

I have to say that I have really enjoyed this class.   I enjoyed the flexibility of it. That it was self paced. I also enjoyed the different things that I learned. After this class I am certain that I want my career to be in e-commerce/web development.

This week assignment was another one that was pretty straight forward, or so I thought. Using the sitewizard tutorial was very helpful. I did run into a problem when I tried to follow the code as it was on the tutorial. At first I had no evidence that it was working. My thank you and error page were not coming up. Finally as I continued through the sitewizard I found what I needed. I tested and tested some more to be sure everything worked properly. It turned out great.

These assignments surely become more difficult as the end of the terms draw near. I found it difficult to find a validation form that actually validated.  At first glance I  would think the from was going to work. I tried about five different ones.  They all had forms that looked fine but when incorrect information  was passed or left blank it  accepted with out throwing an type of error.

This assignment was much more difficult than I thought it would be.  Adding the code was pretty straight forward and easy  but finding  multi media that fit with my nature them was a real challenge. At first I tried to find something relaxing. There are so many different  files to choose from I found myself falling asleep listening to different songs. If I hear another cricket, or bird chirping  I thing I might have a heart attack.  I change my file of choice about ten times. Then I finally made alterations to my final file. I had a cute little file of rain and birds chirping but the bird was so annoying until I got rid of that. I ended up settling on rain only. I just changed it though because previously I had it looping for continuous play and found it aggravating.  If I was shopping and I heard that rain over and over I would leave the site, so I decided to change it play at startup only for a few moments.

Reflection Blog 10

This weeks assignment was one of the most difficult ones for me. It seems simple enough just copying and pasting the code but it took me forever to decide which one to use. Should I embed another site or add an animated pic. Once I finally added and animated pic it took me forever to find a pic that would actually display. All I can say is I am glad to be done with it.

Reflection Blog 09

I enjoyed completing the forms. I viewed the cd  to gain information along with pulling information from various sites. I did have trouble with getting the forms to be forwarded to me via email, but I was glad to hear that this was not required in the assignment.

This week was pretty nice. Nothing to do but study for the exam. The exam itself was pretty straight forward.  I saw the email to another  student telling them to study html tags so thats what I did. I  actually made use of the cd that cam with the course and watched it. I skipped the part about tables and ended up regretting it because I forgot the tags for that when I took the test

Reflection Blog 07 Assignment 7

Trying to hand code dynamic content  was a real challenge. I looked at  a lot of the examples given on various web sites and even though the code was given  I still had to pay attention to where I placed the code. In one instance I attempted to add rollover effects to my images and at execution the code appeared along side  the image in error.  After  going back and forth though and thanks to the help of dreamweaver I finally got it.

Reflection Blog 06 Assignment 6-1

This week we focused on Cascading Style Sheets. At first glance it seems as though adding a style sheet to be applied to your site would be easy. In theory all pages on the site would have the same basic format, i. e. font size, font color, background image, or background color. What I learned from this assignments is that a style sheet is going to be used. It should be created before the page is designed.  Designing a style sheet around am existing web site can be a pretty daunting task.

Reflection Blog 5

This weeks assignment was a little more difficult than I thought. As a consumer I view websites with goals that ranges from shopping to gathering information for my classes. I've never looked at a site and paid attention to how fast the images load or if the site is user friendly or not. I really noticed how inviting flash video makes a site become once added and how a strong presentation grabs and keeps the users attention. This was a in comparsion to a site that was just plain and dull. This assignment also caused me to really pay attention to how sites behave differently in different browsers.

Over all I learned a lot this week

Reflection Blog 04 Assignment 4-2

This weeks assignment was pretty straight forward. I like using tables as it makes a site look more organized. I did run into a little trouble choosing which photo's to go with. I'm glad that each assignment builds off the other so that I can do  it piece by piece, other wise me being so indecisive would hinder me from getting the assignment done at all.

Assign3-1 Reflection Blog 03

This week was pretty laid back for me. I've used Viso before and it is pretty straight forward. I really enjoyed brainstorming about what I should include in my site and what I should name my product. I decided  to do a site for all natural oils for the hair and skin. I haven't really come up with a good name yet but I've been having a blast with the possibilities. I have quite an imagination but I can be a real corn ball some times. Some of my names were really crazy.

I also enjoyed researching all the natural herbs and spices  and pulling photo's together for my site.  I never added photos to a Viso diagram before this assignment. It was nice to work my way through that.

Assign 2-1 Reflection Blog 2

Week 2 was fun. I used Dreamweaver to create my simple web page.

I think I went a little table crazy but I really liked learning about it.  I have to say that the hand coding part is real challenge with Dreamweaver, not because I can't hand code its just that the point and click features of Dreamweaver make you lazy pretty fast. I really  had to force myself to do it.
Creating this site was fun. While going through all of our movies I realized my husband is a real movie buff. We have an enormous movie collection. I should say that he does. As I look through them I noticed he has a million action movies to maybe 10 or 12 girly movies for me, how fair is that?

Assign. 1-2 Reflection Blog 1

Hello all,  My name is Angie Gainer. Currently I'm an MIS major. My minor is kind of up in the air as I can't decide whether I want to do web development or e-commerce. Last semester was my first term going to school full time, while working full time ( including overtime), being a wife, mother of three, and trying my best to be active in church.  I don't know where in the world I found time to sleep.

This time I  intend to be better organized. I figure if I manage my time more effectively, I can make it through. This term I've decided  that TV pretty much has to go. With a schedule like mine something has to give and since I cant  live without sleep and I cant get rid of my husband :o),  I  guess TV gets the Axe.

Taking these web development classes is really making me step back and think if I want to be in development or design or management. I hope as  gain new experience with WEB234 I can make a solid choice.
